About Kit Mitchell
Always thinking about something new and different, and eager to do what’s next…Kathleen Mitchell has never been one to sit by idly and wait. In 1996, she traveled to Scotland on a bit of a lark with a half cooked notion of starting an importing business. She knew that she liked to travel and was armed with a degree in business from the University of Massachusetts Amherst as well as several years of sales and marketing experience. From that trip and several subsequent visits, she forged strong relationships with knitwear companies seeking distribution in North America. the timing was right to launch snow cabin goods; the company name served as a constant reminder for her that if she could make it work, she would reward herself a little snow cabin. As her knitwear design acumen developed, she was determined to find a way to do something more meaningful and launched the make a difference collection of her own designs hand knit by displaced women of Bosnia Herzegovina. Aside from the success of the collection, the experience has given her a profound sense of awareness of the injustices in the world. In her travels, Kathleen has discovered so many goodies that she just had to pull them all together and thereby launched a collection-kit mitchell, real.modern.classic.celtic.home.garden.family.life.
